Burtonport Harbour Redevelopment - Phase 2: Calls for Expressions of Interest

1. Background.

Burtonport Harbour Redevelopment is being funded by Donegal County Council and the Department of Rural and Community Development under the Rural Regeneration and Development Fund. Phase 1 of the redevelopment is presently under construction and will address vacancy and dereliction and deliver a new multi-user harbour environment with a new road regime, enhanced public realm and improved parking facilities. Phase 2 includes the construction of a new harbour users building and enterprise building. This call for expressions of interest specifically concerns the new enterprise building.

2. Burtonport enterprise building – key features.

The enterprise building is being developed to provide opportunities for employment and entrepreneurship. Key features include (plans attached):

• Total floor area – 271 m² (2917 sq. ft);
• Building can be sub-divided into a number of units;
• Kitchenette, toilets and storage areas to be provided;
• Current status – detailed designs for the layout of the building are being prepared by the project architect (EOI’s received will feed into the design process);
• Estimated building completion date – Q1 2024.

3. Objectives for the Burtonport enterprise building.

Donegal 2040 was established by Donegal County Council in February 2018 to positively contribute to economic development and job creation in the county through the development and the management of several key strategic buildings throughout the county. Objectives for the Burtonport Enterprise Building include the:

• creation of employment opportunities;
• stimulation of entrepreneurship to support economic development thereby strengthening the sustainability of the rural community in the area;
• attraction of increased footfall to the harbour area;
• avoidance of any displacement.

EOI proposals must demonstrate how the objectives for the Burtonport Enterprise Building, listed above, will be met.

Tá céim 1 den athfhorbairt a dtógáil faoi láthair agus tabharfaidh sé aghaidh ar fholúntas agus tréigean agus soláthrófar timpeallacht chuain il-úsáideoirí nua le réimse bóithre nua, fearann poiblí feabhsaithe agus áiseanna páirceála feabhsaithe.

Tá foirgneamh úsáideoirí cuan nua agus foirgneamh Fhiontair le tógáil le linn céim 2. Tá an fógairt léiriú spéise seo dírithe ar an foirgnemah Fhiontair nua.

3. Cuspóirí Foirgneamh Fhiontair Ailt an Chorráin.

Bhí Donegal 2040 bunaithe i mí Feabhra, 2018 ag Comhairle Contae Dhún na nGall chun tionchar dearfach a chur le forbairt eacnamaíochta agus le postanna a chruthú sa chontae trí fhorbairt agus bainistiú a dhéanamh ar roinnt príomh fhoirgnimh straitéiseacha ar fud an chontae. Is iad na príomh cuspóirí don tógra seo nó:

• Deiseanna fostaíocht a chruthú.
• Fiontraíocht a spreagadh le tacú le forbairt eacnamaíocht chun inbhuanaitheacht an phobail tuaithe a láidriú sa réigiún. 
• Le daoine a mhealladh go dtí an chuan.
• Díláithriú a sheacaint.
